Teaching - Valuing God's Presence
Fascinated with Jesus: The Superior Pleasure of Knowing God
"I don't just want to believe for God's presence; I want to believe in God's presence. I want to see it, taste it, hear it, smell it and feel it. I want meetings in which without anyone doing anything, no one can stay standing. I have been privileged to be in meetings where rain has fallen inside the building. Where the power of God is so thick that you worship for hours, and the last sound you hear is an exhausted drummer falling through his kit. I've been in meetings where oil has covered everyone's foreheads. Where people have been healed even though no one prayed for them. Where lights have appeared and danced around the room. Meetings where hundreds of people heard the voice of God, and no one spoke. Where money appeared in people's pockets, and no one knew how it got there. Poor people walking out of a service wealthy" (Graham Cooke, The Language of Love)

Application - Valuing God's Presence
“According to the Scriptures, worship is the church’s highest priority and is a voluntary offering to God. [It can be redefined to mean:] time devoted to telling God that we love him. Worship is for God. He is an audience of one, and the congregation is the choir.” (Bill Jackson, Quest for the Radical Middle, p132).

Meditation - Valuing God's Presence
Biblical Meditation (John 17)
Meditation is simply the art of thinking deeply. So, when we meditate on Scripture, we are going to reflect on, contemplate and think deeply about what the particular passage of the Bible is saying and what God is saying through it to us.
This month we are talking about training our hearts to be fascinated with Jesus. We can develop this through thinking about who He says we are and who He says He wants to be for us. One of the great passages in Scripture which does this is John 17. This is Jesus’ last moments with the disciples before his crucifixion. He just finished teaching them for the last time and now he prays for them and for us. The first 19 verses he is praying for the birthing of the church. Then he shifts and he begins praying for the church throughout history (20-26). These 7 verses give us insight into who we are supposed to be and who Jesus is.
Pay special attention to:
1) The characteristics and nature of God.
2) Who Jesus says we are and what we are like
3) the relationship Jesus says we have with God.
Then begin thinking about those things. Try to imagine what they would look like. Pray that those things would become realities in your life.
(For example: v26 “I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known” Jesus reveal the Father to my heart)
