Church Denominations Project - Church History
You will research one of five prominent denominations of the Protestant Church and presenting it to your peers.
Once you have been assigned your denomination, you will research according to three subjects:
1. “The Beginnings of the Denomination,”
2. “A Brief History of the Denomination,” and
3. “The Current Conditions of the Denomination.”
You will have approximately 40 minutes to present your denomination project to the class. You must include all the elements of each subject (see below), leaving time for questions along the way or at the end of your presentation. All members of the group must participate in the research and all members of the group must speak at some point in the presentation.
The group will be graded as a whole on how well they meet all the requirements of the project.

Denominations Project Essay
Assignment:
Using the denominations covered in our project:
1. Write an essay reflecting on which denomination(s) you feel most comfortable with and which you disagree with the most.
2. Be sure to back up your opinion by comparing and contrasting at least 3 different denominations:
3. Giving a detailed analysis of their beliefs, teachings and what sets them apart from each other.
[This essay does not include worship style since every one of these denominations runs the gamut between traditional and contemporary].
Words of Wisdom:
This is your exam. It is worth 20% of your semester grade. Err on the side of giving too much information rather than too little.
Typing this essay will help you organize your thoughts; that is always a good idea.
Due Date:
This is a take home essay. This will be due by the end of the exam period on whatever day the exam is scheduled. You may turn it in earlier via email (Word or Open Office only), Google docs, or you may even hand me a paper copy. If you choose to share a Google doc with me, please email me so I know to look for your name in my sea of documents. For those turning in your work electronically, I will email you back upon receipt of your essay for your own peace of mind.
If I do not have your essay in my possession by the time the exam period starts, you must come to my exam and write out your essay during that two-hour time-frame. (I may or may not have computers available depending on how many students choose to write it during class.)
If you have any questions or concerns, please come talk to me or email me.
