4 Year bible Reading Program
Chapels in a Christian school are always a hard thing. I feel as though I'm constantly walking a fine line between urging students on towards a deeper relationship with Jesus (which can sound a lot like "You're not being a good Christian") and reminding students of Grace (which can sound a lot like "Whatever you do, it's okay because Jesus loves you"). In an attempt to circumvent the issue, we've decided that simply reminding/telling students what they should be doing doesn't work (just like it doesn't work with adults); in addition we have to demonstrate proper actions. Instead of reminding/telling students they should be reading the Bible, we now read the Bible together. Do some students choose the option to not read? Yes. I can't change that. But I can provide structure for students who want to grow deeper in their faith.
This year we've instituted a 4 year plan for reading through the Bible. Like all things an institution wants to implement, if someone else is already doing it well, use their model. I currently only have the 1st year posted. If you'd like the unformatted version for the next three years because you can't wait, you're more than welcome to email me.
