Intro Chapel 2012-2013

I.Excitement

A.Updated Building

1.Middle School hallway

2.New paint job, carpet, furniture on the way.

B.Updates to technology

1.2 laptop carts,

2.iPad cart with an apple TV allowing for wireless pairing

3.wifi that works with multiple classrooms of laptops at the same time.

C.New staff

1.Choir/Band teacher, Computer teacher, new office staff

D.Increased enrollment

II.Recent Events - Ken Blakely

A.Grief

1.Pain is a part of our life

a)We don’t have to hide our pain or our questions

2.Life is not a series of mountains and valleys.

a)Joy and pain ride together in the same car.

3.Part of being a community

a)Don’t grieve and suffer alone.

b)Carry each other’s burdens

B.Hope

1.God is good.

a)In the midst of pain.

2.We help each other along the way.

III.Goal: Not just a school--become a community which practices Faith together

A.Started on this road last year

1.Senior chapels

2.Meditation and Prayer chapels

3.Praise Chapel -- We need musicians!

4.Teachers working to incorporate Christian practice into lessons

B.This year:

1.Pair chapels and classroom lessons with the church calendar

a)Recognizing we are part of a larger community

2.4 year Bible reading plan

a)Importance of reading the Bible

b)Discuss during chapels.

c)Use in devotions in classrooms.

d)Talk about in the student center.

e)At about 1 chapter a day, you read through the whole Bible in about 4 years

(1)5 to 6 chapters a week

(2)50 weeks a year

Availability:

          By next week we’ll have it for download.

          Right now I’ll post it on my Bible class website.

          Maybe we can post it on Sycamore and on the NMCS.us website. I’ll let you know when I figure it out.
