Accounting

This introductory course in Accounting will provide students with a foundational knowledge of business accounting procedures. We will also look at how our faith affects the ethical decisions involved in business finance as highlighted by the recent glut of accounting and banking scandals.

1st semester will focus on the accounting cycle for a simple proprietorship. We will journal transactions into debit and credit parts, and posting them in the general ledger. Then we will create summary documents and end of fiscal period adjustments.

2nd semester will focus on the accounting cycle for a merchandising corporation. This will include all aspects of 1st semester along with a multi-journal approach. We will also look at payroll, payroll taxes, and business taxes.
